Dog Training Private Lessons

Private Lessons - are designed for the dog owner that wants individual attention. If you do not feel that a class setting is appropriate or have a dog that you feel is too OUT OF CONTROL for classes, then private lessons are for you! Private lessons are available in puppy, basic and advanced courses. Private Lessons meet once a week and are customized to fit your schedule. Puppy Class - three classes that meet each week for forty-five minutes. This class is ideal for new pet owners and covers nutrition, health, socialization, housebreaking, equipment and training. Proper socialization with puppies is the key to heading off potential behavioral problems later in life. This course is designed to teach owners the methods of proper socialization so that they can enjoy a well-rounded, well behaved dog.

Basic Obedience - six classes that meet each week for forty-five minutes and covers how dogs learn, the phases of training, equipment, and methods of teaching correcting and proofing. This course covers the sit, stay, down, come and walking on a loose leash. During this course, we can also deal with any behavioral problems that you are having with your dog, such as jumping on people, barging out the door, counter surfing, stealing, barking, phobias, biting and even shy or aggressive behaviors. This course is available for dogs four months and older.

Advanced Obedience - seven classes that meet each week for forty-five minutes. This course includes instruction on off leash teaching methods and the equipment used to teach your dog off leash obedience. This course covers the sit, stay, down, come, place and heeling while off leash. During this course, we can also deal with any behavioral problems that you are having with your dog, such as jumping on people, barging out the door, counter surfing, stealing, barking, phobias, biting and even shy or aggressive behaviors. This course is available for dogs five months and older.

AKC Canine Good Citizen Certification - CGC is a ten part certification program that is designed to teach responsible dog ownership and certify dogs that have the training and behaviors needed to be reliable, well-behaved members of their families and communities. All dogs that pass the CGC certification qualify to receive a certificate from the American Kennel Club and will receive a CGC patch and ID tag.

Dog Training - Group Classes

Highland Canine Training is now offering Basic, Advanced AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy, Agility, Rally-Obedience, herding and tracking group classes at our facilities in Harmony NC, Statesville, NC and in Matthews, NC. These group classes are a great way to socialize your dog with new people and other dogs. These courses are held weekly and last for about an hour. Our group classes run for six consecutive weeks from the date that they begin. (unless otherwise noted)

In-Home Dog Training

Highland Canine Training now offers a variety of In Home Training options for owners that want their dog trained efficiently without kenneling them. With our In Home training programs, we come to your home and spend several hours training your dog to ensure that they are well mannered members of your family. Our In Home training packages allow our dog trainers an opportunity to work with our clients one-on-one and to observe the dog in it's natural environment. In-Kennel Dog Training

In-Kennel Training - is designed for the dog owner with a busy lifestyle. In-Kennel training is available in basic and advanced courses. In-Kennel training means your dog stays with us at Highland Canine Training and we fully train your dog in all commands. We also deal with any behavioral issues that you may be having while your dog is here. Your job is then to maintain the training. When you pick your dog up we will cover how to give the commands properly, and how to correct mistakes if necessary. Also, we include free follow-up lessons in which we show you how to handle your dog, properly reinforce his behavior,and what to do when he makes mistakes. All In-Kennel training comes with a comprehensive DVD or Video covering the basic of our training program and showing your dog performing all of their obedience commands. This DVD / Video is yours to keep to serve a a refresher once you get home. You are entitled to free follow-up training for the life of your dog. Any time you have a question or a problem, whether it is related to our training or not, you may contact us to return for free private lessons. At Highland Canine Training, LLC you get all the support you need. A $50 non-refundable deposit is required to reserve kennel space. This deposit is applied to your training cost. Dog Behavior Modification

Behavior Modification - is available for those dogs and owners who are having specific behavioral problems such as jumping, barking, digging, house soiling, biting, anxiety, scratching, aggression or shyness. We specialize in rehabilitating dogs with problem behaviors. We have successfully resolved inappropriate behaviors in many dogs across the Eastern United States.
