K-9 Kira and her handler of the Gardendale, Alabama Police Department were contacted on a few months ago by officers with the Warrior, Alabama Police Department to assist with a sniff of a suspicious vehicle that had been stopped by a patrol officer. K-9 Kira alerted on the vehicle and at that point the officers searched it. Located in the vehicle were 12,000 hydrocodone tablets packaged in several plastic bags. The officers also seized US Currency and other items form the driver / vehicle. The 12,000hydrocodone tablets alone had an estimated street value of over $120,000.

This traffic stop and subsequent seizure recently received an award for largest Pharmaceutical Interdiction Seizure at the annual National Criminal Enforcement Association Winter Conference. Congratulations to Kira and her handler....Keep Up the Great Work!
